A warm, comforting twist on traditional apple pie, these Apple Pie Biscuits combine the best of both worlds—flaky biscuits and sweet, spiced apple filling.
Ingredients:
- 1 tube (8 count) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
- 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter (½ stick)
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ⅛ tsp ground nutmeg
For the Glazed Topping
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F. It’s ideal to use a 10-inch round pan or skillet, but a 9-inch pan will work as well.
- Prepare the Pan: Melt the butter and brush the sides of your round pan or skillet with it. Set the remaining melted butter aside for later.
- Coat the Biscuits: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Take each biscuit and dip the top, sides, and bottom in the spice mixture to coat thoroughly. Arrange the biscuits in the prepared pan, placing them close together. Set aside any leftover sugar and spice mixture.
- Prepare the Apple Filling: Pour the apple pie filling into a separate bowl. Cut the apples into small, bite-sized pieces and mix in the vanilla extract. Spoon the apple mixture evenly over the biscuits.
- Top and Bake: Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture over the apple filling and drizzle with the remaining melted butter. Bake for 35 minutes, or longer if using a 9-inch pan, until the biscuits are golden and the apples are bubbly.
- Make the Glaze: While the biscuits bake, mix the powdered sugar and heavy cream together until smooth and combined.
- Serve: Once baked, drizzle the glaze over the warm biscuits. Serve immediately for a comforting, sweet treat!
