Grandma’s Chocolate Pie

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 3 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
This pie doesn’t include meringue, but you can add it if you’d like.

  1. In a medium pot, combine the cocoa, cornstarch, beaten egg yolks, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly.
  2. Cook the mixture over medium-high heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens to a smooth consistency.
  3. Pour the thickened filling into a pre-baked pie crust.
  4. Refrigerate the pie until it’s fully chilled.
