Chamomile Would Protect Against Cancer

Do you like herbal teas before going to bed? Prefer herbal teas containing Chamomile because this plant would have anti-cancer virtues.

Herbal tea lovers, you will have another good reason to consume a hot drink at any time of the day.

According to the Daily Mail (UK), researchers at Ohio University (USA) have recognized the anti-cancer property of apigenin, a chemical found in chamomile.

Apigenin would block the “superpowers” of cancer cells by slowing their spread and making them more sensitive to drugs. This would be especially true for breast cancer cells, which are resistant and enjoy a longer lifespan.

As Andrea Doseff, co-author and specialist in molecular genetics, Ohio State University, explains, “Through its relationship to specific proteins, apigenin restores the normal profile of cancer cells. We believe this finding may be of great clinical value and as a potential cancer prevention strategy “.

These results confirm another study conducted by the University of Missouri and published in 2011 in Cancer Prevention Research which found that apigenin may reduce the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are on hormone replacement therapy. This compound would block vascular endothelial growth which is essential for the development of cancer.

In addition to being present in chamomile, apigenin is also found in many other plants such as parsley, celery, mint and oregano and in many fruits such as apples and oranges.
