How To Know What Your Talent Is?

“Do I have any talents?”, “What if I decide on the wrong thing?”, “What if I have another purpose in life?”, These questions always plague people regardless of their age.

Take a little time to understand yourself. The longer you delay with this matter, the longer you will continue to live in ignorance and doubt your path in life.

Winsomenews invites you to learn about a method by the psychologist Iván Pirogóv, called “The analysis of personal purpose”. He takes a pen and a sheet of paper!

Step # 1. Name your dream.

The first thing you should do is remember all your dreams: what you dreamed of in your childhood, in adolescence, in school, in college, in adult life. Till the date. Write them down.

Step # 2. Separate “have” and “be”.

You have already written down your dreams, now is the time to divide them into two groups: “have” and “be”.

The dreams of the group “have” are those that are related to owning something.

The dreams of the group “to be” are those where you see yourself in some role, doing something.

Now write the category “to be” in a separate column, from now on we are going to work only with this one.

Step # 3. What prompted an internal response?

Remember if you felt any special emotions when observing people of a certain profession. Would you like to be in their place? Write it down.

Step # 4. What did you like to do?

To the list that we have obtained in the previous steps, add all those activities that you enjoy doing. What did you like to do when you were a kid? When were you a teenager? At adulthood? What activities and hobbies make you happy now?

Step # 5. Throw away the unnecessary.

Now check if all the dreams mentioned provoke you some internal emotional response. To do this, visualize each point on the “being” list and listen carefully to the emotions and feelings it causes you. You have to visualize in the first person. Enter the desired role. Imagine that this role is already yours in reality. What are you doing right now? What do you see and hear around you? What do you feel while doing it?

As soon as you enter the role, pay attention to your emotions and feelings. And then rate their strength on a scale of 0 to 10.

Step # 6. Ruthlessly discard.

Now discard the dreams that got the lowest scores in the previous step. These are the dreams that right now you can abandon forever. They are not important to you at this time.

Step # 7. Group qualities.

Now you have a real list of your innate tendencies formulated like dreams. In this stage they all accumulate chaotically. Look carefully at the list and answer the following questions: What items on the list could you group? What points could be closely related to each other?

For example, you have on your list the following: “I want to travel to distant countries”, “I want to be a writer”, “I want to learn to speak foreign languages”. It is obvious that the desire to travel is combined with the desire to learn languages. And the desire to write books could be related to travel (maybe you would be writing about this). As a result, the three items on the list complement each other very well.

Step # 8. Name the groups.

Look at the grouped items on the list and give each group a name. The name should reflect some innate talent of yours that spawned a chain of interrelated dreams. For example, “The ability to seek information, find answers and solve mysteries”, “The ability to help people”, and so on.

Step # 9. Identify relationships between groups.

We are almost done! It remains for us to understand how the groups are related. For this we write them down in a separate list.

Look at the list and think, in what way does the existence of one group support the existence of the other? As practice teaches, groups almost always have mutually supportive ties.

Step # 10. Seek application to your talents.

Think and write down all the possible options of how you could apply your talents in real life. What would be the profession or activity? Perhaps your talents apply to several professions at the same time? The more options you have, the better.

Step # 11. Decide what your favorite profession would be.

Did you make a list of the ways you could apply your talents? Excellent, now rate each item on the list on a scale from 0 to 10. 10, a very desirable option; 0, the least acceptable option.

After this, define a specific address that catches your attention. This profession will bring you success, joy in life and, of course, a good income. Because when you know that you have a talent for this, things are going well and you are enthusiastic about doing them.
